Core Layout and Displays
The Boeing 787 Dreamliner cockpit is a state-of-the-art "glass flight deck" designed for two-crew operation . It integrates advanced automation with ergonomic layouts to reduce pilot workload and enhance situational awareness during long-haul flights.

3. The Overhead Panel
- Primary Flight Display (PFD): Located directly in front of each pilot. Shows attitude, airspeed, altitude, and vertical speed. In the 787, this is integrated with a digital speed tape.
- Multi-Function Display (MFD): Located inboard of each PFD. Typically displays navigation routes, weather radar, or terrain maps.
- Engine Indication and Crew Alerting System (EICAS): Located in the center of the main panel. The 787 displays N1, N2, fuel flow, and oil temps digitally. Note: On the 787, the EICAS is not a single screen but can be moved across displays due to the "any display any function" capability.
