Could Not Install Canon MF Port Monitor

Article last updated: October 2025. Compatible with Windows 10, Windows 11, and Windows Server 2016/2019/2022.

  1. Disconnect the printer USB cable.
  2. Go to Settings > Apps > Installed Apps.
  3. Search for "Canon" and uninstall any entries related to your specific printer model or "Canon MF Driver."
  4. Open Devices and Printers. Right-click any icon for your printer and select Remove device.
  5. Clean the Registry/Driver Store (Advanced but recommended):
    • Identify the port monitor DLL (e.g., CNMFMON.DLL or similar) within the Canon driver files.
    • Copy the DLL to C:\Windows\System32 (and SysWOW64 for 32-bit DLLs on 64-bit Windows).
    • Register with regsvr32: regsvr32 /s path\to\dll.
    • Manually create registry entries under Print\Monitors if needed (use exported examples from a working install or Canon documentation).
    • Reboot and start the Print Spooler.

If the automated installer fails, you can force the port creation manually: could not install canon mf port monitor
