The Africa Subplot: In the theatrical version, Lois Lane’s investigation makes no sense. The Ultimate Edition shows that Lex Luthor’s mercenaries used incendiary rounds to frame Superman for a massacre. Without this, the entire Senate hearing feels like a tantrum. With it, it’s a political thriller.
Clark Kent the Reporter: The theatrical cut forgot Clark is a journalist. The extended cut shows him actually investigating Batman, talking to victims in Gotham, and realizing Bruce is a brutal vigilante before the party scene.
