DirectX 11
Euro Truck Simulator 2 (ETS2) transitioned from version 1.35 to 1.36 on December 3, 2019. This update was a major technical milestone for the game, primarily noted for the shift to and the removal of DirectX 9 support. Major Features in Update 1.36
- Turn on "Secondary vehicle lights" – This new 1.36 feature makes AI traffic headlights cast real-time shadows. It is gorgeous but heavy on FPS. Set it to low or off if you lag.
- Use "Ultra" for shadows only – Because DX11 handles shadows better, setting shadows to High/Ultra actually improves FPS compared to Medium (which offloads work to the CPU).
- Launch parameters: Right-click ETS2 on Steam > Properties > Launch Options. Type
-mm_pool_size 4096 -mm_max_resource_size 50 -mm_max_tmp_buffers_size 1000to stabilize memory usage on 1.36.
