V-Ray 1.49.02 for SketchUp is a legacy version of the popular rendering engine, dating back to approximately 2011-2012
Environment:
The Pain Points (Why we moved on)
- No GPU: This version was strictly CPU-based. You relied entirely on your processor's clock speed. A dual-core laptop? Forget it. A high-end Xeon? You were a god.
- The "Adaptive" QMC: The Quasi-Monte Carlo engine was the secret sauce. It was noisy. It was grainy. But if you let it cook overnight, it produced a soft, photographic noise that many artists actually preferred to the sterile, clean "brute force" of today.
- No Interactive Rendering: You changed a light setting? You hit render. You waited. You saw it was wrong. You hit render again. This forced you to think before you clicked.
Modern rendering is about instant gratification (real-time viewports, GPU rendering). 1.49.02 was about patience. Vray 1.49.02 for Sketchup
