In a standard Hardcore Nuzlocke of , the level cap is defined as the level of the next Gym Leader's or Elite Four member's highest-leveled Pokémon (their "ace"). You cannot enter the battle with any Pokémon above this level. Gym Leader Level Caps
- If a Pokémon faints, it is considered "dead" and must be permanently boxed, never to be used again.
- The player can only catch the first Pokémon encountered in each area.
The Balanced Approach (Recommended):
